KNOP KNOP is the brainchild of a young award-winning designer from Latvia, Rodion Zenevich. Always fascinated with modeling and constructing – Zenevich graduated from the Department of Functional Design at the Latvian Academy of Arts in 2013, with his graduation project, an inflatable construction set, placing 3rd at a highly acclaimed design competition SaloneSatellite Worldwide Moscow. Building upon his initial idea and perfecting it with new materials and buttons – Zenevich entered the prototype for KNOP KNOP at this same event in 2015. This competition acted as the qualifying round for the Milan I Saloni WorldWide design exhibition held in April 2016, where 34 young designers battled it out to participate in this prestigious design showcase. Out of these 34 participants –Zenevich edged out his competition with KNOP KNOP, and was invited to present in Milan!
Throughout the showing, Zenevich received an outpouring
of positive feedback from not only visitors, but local television and press.
After representing Latvia in this international design exhibition
– Zenevich was awarded with a diploma from the I Saloni Worldwide Milan
exhibition and selected as 1 of 500 ideas and designs to be published in the
20th Anniversary Book, “SaloneSatellite – 20 Years of New Creativity.”
The success and recognition from these competitions gave
the KNOP KNOP team the confidence they needed to create a modern educational
children’s toy for the global market. The KNOP KNOP toy was designed with the
